Genetics

Jack Herer genetics: Haze, Northern Lights #5 and Shiva Skunk

The clearest published lineage is Haze × (Northern Lights #5 × Shiva Skunk), as stated by Leafly and AllBud. Weedmaps agrees on the three genetic families but says Sensi Seeds has not publicly spelled out the exact recipe.1,2,3

  • Critical JackCritical+ × Jack Herer, per Dinafem and Leafly
Published parents are from Leafly and AllBud; the Critical Jack link is from Dinafem and Leafly.1,2,4,5

The published parent account

Leafly says Sensi Seeds created Jack Herer from a Haze hybrid and a Northern Lights #5 × Shiva Skunk cross. AllBud states the same parent structure. Sensi Seeds calls Jack Herer a flagship line but its product page does not publish a parent recipe.1,2,6

Weedmaps is more cautious: it says the strain is widely traced to Northern Lights #5, Shiva Skunk and Haze, but that Sensi Seeds has not publicly laid out the exact recipe. That is why this guide reports the lineage as a published account rather than an independently verified pedigree.3

Four published phenotype types

Sensi Seeds says three of four main phenotype types are heavily sativa-influenced and a fourth is indica-dominant and compact. Leafly likewise describes four phenotypes, three typically sativa-influenced and one more indica-like.1,6

That variation is one reason a name alone cannot predict a particular batch’s chemistry. In the matched state-lab data, the whole sample runs from 3.24% to 39.09% total THC, while the middle half is narrower at 17.13%–22.00%.7

A documented descendant: Critical Jack

Dinafem describes Critical Jack as Critical+ × Jack Herer. Leafly gives the same two parents and lists focused, energetic and uplifted as its top user-reported effects.4,5 The network’s Critical Jack guide covers that distinct strain; it should not be used as an alternate name for Jack Herer.
