Jack Herer lab report
For Jack Herer, the clearest split is a steady terpene leader against scarce high-THC outliers: terpinolene was on top in 75% of terpene tests, but only 5.4% of flower tests made the 25% THC cutoff and 0.4% made 30%.1
Key findings
- Jack Herer's terpene tests had terpinolene in front 75% of the time; β-caryophyllene was a distant runner-up at 19%.1
- Jack Herer cleared 20% total THC in 46% of flower tests, but 25% in only 5.4% and 30% in 0.4%.1
- 2023's median THC was +4.32 points above 2018's, with 16.54% at the start and 20.86% at the end.1
- Across qualifying labs, the low median was 17.70% (Lab C) and the high was 24.00% (Lab F), separated by 6.30 points.1
- By median THC, Jack Herer sat in the bottom third at 40th of 58, with 19.59% as its median.1
- Menu availability was top-third: Jack Herer ranked 7th of 58 tracked strains, with 486 store listings carrying flower in 22 markets.2
What are Jack Herer's odds at 20% THC?
Jack Herer cleared 20% total THC in 46% of 910 flower tests, about half; the median was 19.59%, while 5.4% reached 25% and 0.4% reached 30%, keeping higher cutoffs rare in this dataset.1
State results separated sharply: 77% of Washington tests were at or above 20% (61 tests, median 22.00%), compared with 40% in Nevada (396 tests, median 19.06%).1 Read that split through local growers, lab participation and testing rules as well as the plant itself.

Do published THC claims line up with Jack Herer labs?
Jack Herer labs put the median at 19.59%, and one of the two single THC figures we checked sat above that midpoint; Sensi Seeds had the highest single claim, can exceed 20% THC, reached by 46% of tests.1,3
At the lower end, Leafly's 18% THC was reached by 67% of tests, so it covered most batches.1,4 The ranges were broader: AllBud's 15–24% THC contained 84% of results, while the 21–26% THC range from Weedmaps contained 32%.1,5,6
These comparisons do not identify any specific package; that requires the batch certificate of analysis.

Which terpene is usually highest in Jack Herer labs?
The test-by-test terpene count for Jack Herer is lopsided: terpinolene was highest in 75% of 415 terpene tests, while β-caryophyllene led 19% and β-myrcene led 2.9%.1
The Leafly terpene claim names terpinolene, and the tests match: it led 75% of them.1,4
Nevada supplied 396 of the 415 terpene tests, so these shares mostly describe flower tested there.1
| Terpene | Tests where it led | Share of tests |
|---|---|---|
| Terpinolene | 313 | 75% |
| β-caryophyllene | 79 | 19% |
| β-myrcene | 12 | 2.9% |
| Limonene | 9 | 2.2% |

Which strains match Jack Herer's terpene mix?
The closest lab-chemistry matches to Jack Herer's typical terpene mix were Super Lemon Haze at 90%, Trainwreck at 88% and Cherry Diesel at 81%; among 36 compared strains, Papaya was farthest away at 30%.1
Those closest matches all had terpinolene as the median-profile leader; a lower-overlap example is Gelato, at 56%, led by β-caryophyllene.1
Method: we express each strain's median levels for eight terpenes as shares of its eight-terpene total, then sum the shared portions; identical mixes score 100. Strains enter the comparison only after 30 tests with individual terpene values.1 Chemistry is all this comparison covers; it does not say how a strain will feel.
| Strain | Overlap | Lead terpene (by median) | Tests with terpenes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Super Lemon Haze | 90% | Terpinolene | 468 |
| Trainwreck | 88% | Terpinolene | 139 |
| Cherry Diesel | 81% | Terpinolene | 35 |
| Durban Poison | 79% | Terpinolene | 236 |
| Gelato | 56% | β-caryophyllene | 371 |
| Papaya (least similar) | 30% | Limonene | 98 |

How does Jack Herer's THC stack up against other strains?
Jack Herer lands low in the THC table rather than near the top: its 19.59% median is 40th among 58 strains, just below Gelato 45 at 19.65% and just above Green Crack at 19.52%; its 25%-plus share ranks 45th at 5.4%.1
From 17.13% to 22.00%, the central half of Jack Herer results covered 4.87 points; among 52 strains with enough data, that placed its spread 23rd narrowest, which is about average consistency.1
| Rank | Strain | Median THC | Middle half | Tests |

Can the lab move Jack Herer's THC number?
Among the 6 labs with at least 20 tests of Jack Herer, medians ran from 17.70% at Lab C (Nevada, 113) to 24.00% at Lab F (Washington, 39), a gap of 6.30 points.1
Inside Maryland, labs still separated: the three qualifying labs ran from 18.65% to 21.95%, differing by 3.30 points.1
Because each lab may be seeing different growers’ flower, the gap alone cannot show that a lab reads high. Lab labels are anonymized here; Lab A has the most tests, and the downloadable file gives the lab names.

Do higher-THC Jack Herer batches carry more terpenes?
Yes for Jack Herer: in 780 tests with both measurements, the upper THC third beginning at 21.04% posted 2.05% median total terpenes, while the lower third at 17.91% or less posted 1.28%; the two terpene medians differed by 0.77 points.1
The state check pointed the same direction in two of two qualifying states: Nevada up and Maryland up.1 For Nevada, the lower-THC third had 1.20% median total terpenes and the higher-THC third had 1.53%.1 Total terpene percentage is a weight-based aroma-compound measure; it does not address effects.
| Tests from | Tests | Lowest-THC third | Highest-THC third |
|---|---|---|---|
| All states | 780 | 1.28% | 2.05% |
| Nevada | 396 | 1.20% | 1.53% |
| Maryland | 365 | 1.40% | 2.55% |

What this data cannot tell you
- These tests come from Jack Herer flower in 9 states over 2015–2024; they do not verify any single jar, so the batch certificate of analysis is the package-specific record.1
- Chemistry numbers are all this report measures; they are not a prediction of how Jack Herer will feel to you.
